Subject: Thirroul Festival - ART ALIVE! - 2012
Dear Artists,
The Thirroul Seaside and Arts Festival is now planning events for next year. It sounds a long way off, but we hope you will give some thought to your calendar for the 'usual' date - that cross-over weekend between March and April, next year.
For the artists working in the street, the name has been changed. Art Alive! is the name and Saturday 31st March 2012 is the day for setting up your painting, drawing or craftwork in the street or in Jackson Park.
This event runs at no cost to the artists. Artists creating their paintings and drawings or their craft are all welcome, and provide interest and colour for the festival, whilst being able to show their skills to the visiting public and have some finished items, such as original work or cards available for sale. You will have space for your painting gear, a single table and shade umbrella, but not space for a market stall set-up.
It is envisaged that artists will either stand alone or in groups through the town or in Jackson Park (and maybe around the Community Centre this time). Since last year, Jackson Park has been provided with seating and some young trees, and the children's events and Animal Farm are expected to be set up there as usual. It may even be possible to have artists in the beachside park on the Sunday, in a separate grassed area to the north of the main events, if there is enough interest.
Several artists might like to get together and design a hands-on activity for the public, and this would be very popular and might attract a sponsor's contribution for materials. Let us know if you have any ideas!
More information will be sent after Christmas, but please do consider making this a date in your diary, to paint in the open - maybe paint 'the scene' - engage with potential customers and certainly have a lot of fun!
Please let us know if you would like to participate in Art Alive! next year; if you have artist friends who would like to be included, send us their details or ask them to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Christine Hill and Carol Roderick

PS The Thirroul Seaside & Arts Festival is a charity fund-raising event and Merchant Stalls are available, at a cost, for artists and craftspeople who wish to concentrate on selling their wares, either on Saturday in the street, or on Sunday at the beachside park. These stalls are available via the Festival Committee on the website www.thirroulfestival.com/contactus.
